CV Operator Show a "success"

Date: 26 April 2010

Last week's Commercial Vehicle Operator Show has been deemed a success by exhibitors and organisers.

Mark Waller, brand communication manager of Renault, which showcased its Kangoo Van Maxi and Master models, said: "Even though this year's event is on a smaller scale than usual due to the economic downturn, we've been pleasantly surprised by the volume and consistently high quality of the customer enquiries we've received over the three days."

Road Haulage Association chief executive Geoff Dunning said: "There were some doubts concerning the impact of an industry show at what is still a critical time in economic terms.

"I am delighted that last week proved, without a shadow of doubt, that there is still the need and the enthusiasm to showcase transport and logistics; the most important player in the recovery and future success of the UK economy."

After the Commercial Vehicle Show was cancelled last year due to the recession, it returned in a new form for this year - the CV Operator Show.

The move decreased manufacturer participation and instead targeted transport operators with particular emphasis on environment impact, improved efficiency and profitability.

The CV Show is expected to return in its original form next year.
