EVs: best before date?

Date: 30 April 2010

Electric vehicles should carry a 'Best before" date according to used valuation firm VipData.

"[The batteries] are effectively perishable goods with a limited shelf life," said head of valuation services Alan Senior.

Once EVs are more than three years old and outside dealer warranty, values will be significantly lower, whether the battery is leased or not claimed Senior.
