Ford drops Econetic low-CO2 branding for Mondeo range

Date: 05 May 2010

Ford has dropped its low-CO2 Econetic branding from the Mondeo range, although it will continue to herald the most efficient versions of its Fiesta and Focus line-up. The branding was dropped with the introduction of the latest diesel engines, which meant all Mondeo 2.0 TDCi diesel reached 139g/km, not just the eco models.

Ford does not have any plans to introduce a new lower CO2 Mondeo, leaving the model in the same BIK band as Vauxhall's Insignia Ecoflex, which boasts a 136g/km figure, but well behind VW's Passat Bluemotion on 114g/km. The Focus and Fiesta Econetic models both get under 100g/km.
