Greenline is 'key message' for Skoda growth

Date: 18 November 2010

The Skoda Fabia Greenline II is the carmaker's most environmentally-friendly model yet

Skoda's decision to offer a low-CO2 Greenline version of every model in its range sends out a "fantastic message" and is a "real winner for fleets and user choosers", according to Skoda UK boss Robert Hazlewood.

"Greenline is absolutely for the fleet marketplace, it's a key message," he said. "It's quite a clear positioning of the Skoda brand within the [Volkswagen] Group - we're about getting the most out of the technology and providing solutions today." First deliveries of the new Greenline models will take place in the first quarter of 2011.

"From our perspective we've got great product with great emissions and size of car," said Hazlewood. "Martin [Burke, Skoda UK fleet boss] is finding his team have been out there talking to fleets and finding it easier. There's a real buzz about our cars."

Skoda has recently appointed its first national leasing and SMR manager, with Martin Gay looking to increase Skoda's dialogue with lease firms.

The new Greenline versions are the major product news for Skoda in 2011, although it will be gearing up for the launch of two new models in 2012: a new city car to sit below the Fabia and a lower medium model to come in between the Fabia and Octavia.
