The start point for the best source of fleet information

Half of FDs have no plans to reduce fleet running costs

Date: 01 July 2010

More than half of businesses do not have a strategy in 2010 to reduce company vehicle running costs, according to a Lex Autolease poll.

The survey of financial directors by the fleet company and YouGov showed that only a fifth of FDs have an existing plan to cut fleet running costs, with a quarter expecting to introduce a cost savings plan this year.

Just under half (47%) stated they do not have a plan in place to reduce running costs and have no plans to introduce one, while 7% did not know if they had any plan in place at all.

Marcus Puddy, head of consultancy services, Lex Autolease said: "By not having an effective fleet strategy in place, UK businesses are missing a great cost-saving opportunity.

"By taking a more strategic view to fleet management, cost savings can be achieved, which will ultimately have an impact on the company's bottom line. Financial directors who address fleet strategy will reap the dividends."
