Jazz fails to break 100g/km barrier

Date: 01 October 2010

Honda's Jazz hybrid will have CO2 emissions of 104g/km when it goes on sale early next year.

It's the second Honda hybrid to fall short of breaking the 100g/km boundary after the 101g/km Insight. While the 104g/km figure currently falls into the lowest BIK tax band, this will not apply when the margins change in April 2012.

The Jazz shares the same 1.3-litre petrol engine as the Insight hybrid and emits 21g/km less than the current lowest-emitting 1.2-litre petrol Jazz. According to Honda, fuel consumption will be 64.2mpg.

"We think a cleaner, more economical Jazz will be a big hit," said John Kingston, Honda government affairs and environment manager.
