Late licence

Date: 18 January 2010   |   Author: Tristan Young

BusinessCar's investigation highlighted huge Government failings to meet its own recommendations

The Department of Work and Pensions has responded late, but relatively well, to Stephen Ladyman's written parliamentary question on licence checking and safety data following BusinessCar's investigation into the matter.

For the record, the DWP's response to licence checking was good, with annual line-manager checks of licences. However, for employees using their own cars for business, the department did not record or analyse accident data.

Regional affairs minister Jim Knight, said: "In the case of staff driving their own vehicles, the staff member's own insurance company would handle accident and claims."
