Fleet managers concerned with safety need to look beyond just EuroNCAP's adult occupant protection ratings, warned David Fulker from UK EuroNCAP working group E-safety Aware, who advised that it is important to consider the three other ratings: child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist.
"Many manufacturers still just use the adult protection logo in their advertising," said Fulker. "If you are a fleet operator concerned about safety, please don't just look at adult protection ratings any more. It's moved on."
Safety assist, a new element, considers features such as seatbelt reminders, electronic stability control and speed-limitation devices.
