Mercedes reveals new CLS

Date: 24 August 2010

Mercedes has revealed pictures of its new CLS, which will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and go on UK sale in March 2011.

Launched in 2003, the current model which, the brand said "combined the elegance and dynamism of a coupe with the comfort and functionality of a saloon", has sold 170,000 cars worldwide.

Proportions for the new car stay the same as its predecessor but there are design changes, including the front, which is reminiscent of a SLS AMG according to Mercedes.

"Customers benefited from our move to launch a completely new vehicle concept onto the market," said Dr Joachim Schmidt, member of the board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, sales & marketing.

"And with its exciting design, the new edition of the CLS also benefits from the fact that we are a whole generation ahead of the competition with our four-door Coupé."
