Mini Countryman prices announced

Date: 16 February 2010

Mini's first four-door five-seat model will go on sale in September, with prices starting from £16,000.

The fourth car in the Mini range, Countryman will have three 1.6 petrol engines with 98, 122 and 184hp respectively and two 1.6-litre diesel engines.

The most efficient diesel engines emit 116g/km Co2 while its least green is the Cooper S at 146g/km.

Two models in the new Countryman range, Mini Cooper D and Cooper S ALL4, will offer four-wheel drive. A Mini Cooper ALL4 version will follow in 2012.

Lee Connolly, UK product manager, said: "The Countryman brings new levels of space and versatility to the range that will attract not only existing Mini owners but also new customers.

"We expect that the extra space will mean that around 80% of sales will come from customers completely new to the brand."

Standard equipment will include rear parking sensors, air conditioning, heated door mirrors, digital radio and USB connection.
