Mini pushes Countryman to fleet

Date: 04 June 2010

Mini is pushing its new four-door Countryman, launching in September, to fleet customers and leasing companies at corporate driving days.

The BMW-owned company anticipates Countryman making a larger dent in the fleet market than its other models which are all two-door.

Fleet is expected to account for a 'majority' of sales but the carmaker would not release any figures.

Due to production limitations, around 1500 units will be available in the first 12 months, of which around 50% have already been pre-ordered.

Mini UK director Jochen Goller said strong residual values (47% on Countryman Cooper D) will entice fleet buyers.

He added that existing Mini customers who want to stay with the brand but have growing families now have a realistic Mini option.
