Date: 15 July 2010

Vauxhall's new Corsa Ecoflex with start-stop technology,, on sale now, has improved CO2 emissions by 9g/km on the outgoing model.

With prices from £13,195, the new Euro-5 1.3-litre 72hp diesel emits 105g/km CO2 and achieves 70.6mpg on a combined cycle.

The carmaker said town drivers will see the biggest gains in fuel consumption, with official urban figures of 58.9mpg, which makes it around 13% more economical than its Euro-4 predecessor.

The Ecoflex model without start-stop emits 112g/km while a more powerful 95hp iteration does 115g/km.

The Corsa Ecoflex is available in all trims with start-stop costing an extra £260.
