New Focus to start from £15,995

Date: 20 December 2010

Ford has confirmed that the entry-level version of its new Focus will cost £15,995 for the 1.6 105hp petrol Edge model, while the most popular Zetec trim will start from £16,995 for the same petrol engine when deliveries of the new model commence in March.

The 115hp 1.6 diesel will cost £18,495 for the five-door hatchback in Zetec trim, and both five-door and estate will come in at 109g/km. The estate will cost £1100 more than the hatchback across the range, with the £25,095 2.0 TDCi Powershift auto estate in Titanium X trim currently the top of the pile.

The range consists of three petrol models and four diesels. All new Focus models will be fitted with DAB digital radio, ESP anti-skid control, six airbags and Bluetooth all standard across the range, while Zetec trim adds Quickclear front screen, 16-inch alloys, leather steering wheel and sports-style front seats. Above that, Titanium specification includes dual climate control, keyless start, cruise control, auto lights and wipers and upgraded audio, while the top Titanium X spec also gets powered driver's seat, part-leather trim, heated front seats and LED daytime running lights.

"Ford Focus set the class benchmark for ride and handling at launch in 1998 and the all-new model will set another new standard in the segment - this time for next-generation features and smart technology," said Mark Simpson, Ford of Britain marketing director. "Ford Focus is firmly established as one of the UK's favourite cars, and this all-new range is set to grow that reputation even further thanks to its sporty exterior styling, advanced technology-laden cabin and rewarding dynamics,"
