Peugeot reveals first diesel-hybrid

Date: 08 September 2010

The world's first diesel hybrid production car has been announced by Peugeot. The 3008 Hybrid4 combines a 2.0-litre 163hp diesel engine with a 37hp electric motor, emitting 99g/km CO2 and around 74.4mpg.

Due to go on UK sale in autumn 2011, a Peugeot spokesman said the car would be at the top end of the 3008 line-up. "It will form the premium model in the 3008 range. It will have extra features as well as the hybrid while representing extremely good value."

The French carmaker said the car will "appeal to demanding, technophile customers who are in search of a rewarding and original vehicle".
