Renault claims fleet 'comeback'

Date: 22 November 2010

Renault claims to have had a "fantastic reaction" from fleet customers after responding to widespread concerns about business customers being "mishandled" and product quality.

Phil York, the French brand's marketing director, said the 14-issue Renault business promise initiative, costing £1.5 million, marked a fleet sector "comeback", which was producing results in terms of restoring fleet penetration to "just below 5%" up until the end of August. York admitted there had been a marked increase in Motability business, with Renault's share rising to 10% with strong demand, particularly for the Grand Scenic.

He said: "We have done a lot of listening to fleet operators about their concerns about the way in which we handled clients and not delivering on product quality. This is incorporated in the 14-point business promise, which has prompted a fantastic reaction."

But he admitted that getting back on fleet lists remained "work in progress" because "you don't return just like that".
