Restyled Mazda 6 emerges this spring

Date: 09 February 2010

Mazda's 6, which generates the highest fleet factor in the company's range, will benefit from improved fuel consumption and lower CO2 emission figures when the facelifted range goes on sale this spring.

Subtle styling changes bring the 6 saloon, hatchback and estate into line with the rest of the range's more moulded "family face", which the company claims provides a "clearer, premium identity."

Mazda is waiting until the "freshened" 6 debuts at the Geneva motor show on 2 March before detailing the consumption and emission improvements, particularly important on the three 2.2-litre diesel engines.

A new 2-litre DISI or direct injection petrol engine is included in the revised powertrain portfolio, also with claimed but unstated reductions in consumption and CO2 levels.

Active safety features for the 6 include adaptive front lighting and hill assist while the car's dynamics have been tuned with modified chassis settings.
