Toyota visits big fleets to solve recall problem

Date: 12 March 2010

Toyota has been sending technicians out to large fleet operators as it seeks to rectify the problems that led to recalls on several models in its range.

"We're trying to be really flexible. We're even going to people's places of work if they have significant numbers of cars," Toyota fleet boss Mark Roden told BusinessCar.

Roden added that there have been "no changes" to buying policies, that the brand hasn't witnessed any changes to order cycle patterns and no residual value experts have altered their predictions.

"Key customer fleets and leasing providers are being very supportive," said Roden. "People are being treated properly at the centres and going away reassured."

The company is targeting to have the majority of remedy work completed within 30 days of the recall being announced, with service departments stretching their opening hours to 8am-8pm during the week, and also opening on weekends to fit vehicles in.
