Vauxhall launches first-owner 100,000-mile lifetime warranty

Date: 05 August 2010   |   Author:

Vauxhall is offering a permanent lifetime 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty on all its new cars from 1 August, in an industry-leading move announced last week.

The current industry leading offering is Kia's seven-year 100,000-mile deal, but Vauxhall's new scheme for the first owner, available to both fleet and retail buyers, becomes the most generous on the market.

Its impact on the fleet sector will only become beneficial once cars exceed the previous three-year or 60,000-mile offering. "Not all fleet customers adhere to three-year patterns and a number of customers over the last 12 months have extended cycles so it will have a significant impact," Vauxhall fleet boss Maurice Howkins told BusinessCar. Vauxhall is also expecting a residual value uplift

First owners are also likely to be able to sell-on the remaining warranty, though that is still under investigation by the manufacturer with an announcement expected later this month.

Vauxhall's van range continues at its current three-year 100,000-mile level.
