Volkswagen announces new entry-level Golf

Date: 07 October 2010

Volkswagen has announced a new entry level Golf model, starting from £12,995.

The Golf Twist, available in three- or five-doors, has a 1.4-litre petrol engine with 78hp and a six-speed manual transmission. It has official fuel figures of 44.1 mpg and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.

The carmaker said the model has more than £700 of additional equipment over the Golf S on which it is based. The Twist adds 16-inch alloy wheels, radio system with multimedia connectivity and a front centre armrest.

The car costs £12,995 with a £585 premium for the five-door model. The previous entry-level Golf, the S with the same 1.4-litre engine, costs £14,880.
