VW Group signs emergency services fleet deal

Date: 25 October 2010

Emergency services fleets could be running Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen cars and commercial vehicles following the signing of a group-wide four-year supply deal with a major government purchasing body.

The Volkswagen Group's agreement with the National Policing Improvement Authority's vehicle purchasing framework means the five brands can supply vehicles to every police service and fire and ambulance authority in the UK - as well as other emergency services and the NHS.

It is the first time the Volkswagen Group has worked so closely on a joint fleet project, it said.

Volkswagen Group managing director Robin Woolcock said: "We're delighted to be working with the NPIA on this key initiative. We're confident our proposition gives the emergency services a strong model line-up as well as excellent support - which is just as important in day-to-day operation."
