VW reveals Jetta coupe

Date: 12 January 2010

VW has revealed another coupe based on the Golf platform. Although called a concept, the Compact Coupe revealed at the Detroit motor show looks production ready and could carry the Jetta or Golf CC name.

Such a car would give Volkswagen a second, but more practical, Golf-sized coupe alongside the Scirocco.

VW is pitching the Compact Coupe as a low-emission sporty car with CO2 at less than 100g/km from a 1.4-litre 150PS petrol engine. The TSI engine gives the car a 0-62mph time of 8.6 seconds yet a fuel figure of 67.2mpg.

VW claims the car sits between the Golf and the Passat as it's fractionally longer than its lower medium contender.
