VW reveals revised Touran mini-MPV

Date: 16 April 2010

VW has revealed its revised Touran will be the "most efficient MPV" the carmaker has produced.

The model, on sale in September, will have two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre 105hp and a 1.4-litre 140hp. Diesel variants comprise a 1.6-litre with 90hp or 105hp, and a 2.0-litre with 140hp or 170hp. Bluemotion is available on the 1.2 105hp petrol and 1.6 105hp diesel with the latter returning 61.4mpg on a combined cycle.

VW said the revised model takes design inspiration from the Polo, Golf and Touareg and has a new grille, front bumper and rear tail-lights.

The Touran has the latest generation of Park Assist, which allows vehicles to park in parallel and end-on spaces.

It is fitted with seven seats as standard, the third row of which can be folded down into the floor of the vehicle to leave a 695-litre load space that can be increased to 1913 litres when the centre row of seats is folded.

Prices and specifications will be announced later.
