VW Scirocco and Passat CC gain Bluemotion

Date: 03 December 2010

Volkswagen has introduced Bluemotion Technology versions of the Scirocco and Passat CC.

Entry-level and GT trim Scirocco models with the 2.0-litre 140hp engine now feature Bluemotion modifications such as stop/start and battery regeneration.

Available with six-speed manual or the option of six-speed DSG transmission, VW claims fuel economy has improved from 55.4mpg to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle for the manual derivative and from 51.4mpg to 57.6mpg for the DSG.

Emissions have reduced from 134g/km to 118g/km and from 145g/km to 129g/km respectively, allowing all Bluemotion Sciroccos to drop two VED bands - down to band C for the manual and D for the DSG.

VW has also revised the 2.0-litre TDI 170hp drivetrain fitted to the Scirocco GT, resulting in fuel economy reductions from 53.3mpg to 55.4mpg (51.4mpg-50.4mpg DSG) and emission cuts of 139g/km to 134g/km (147g/km-144g/km DSG).

Bluemotion models have also replaced diesel units in the Passat CC line-up.

The 2.0-litre 140hp TDI Passat CC now achieves economy of 60.1mpg on the combined cycle - up from 50.4mpg - while emissions have dropped from 146g/km to 125g/km.

The 170hp version is now capable of 57.6mpg (51.4mpg DSG) with emissions of 129g/km (144g/km DSG).
