Audi launches five-door A1 Sportback

Audi has added a five-door Sportback model to its A1 supermini line-up. The car retains the same exterior appearance and dimensions but benefits from extra space in the rear and full five-seat capacity as opposed to the three-door's four-seat layout.

Prices start at £13,980 and top out at £21,270, which represents a £560 premium over the three-door.

A new 2.0-litre 143hp TDI variant has also been introduced along with two new trim levels: Contrast Edition and Black Edition. The 2.0-litre's emissions stand at 108g/km and the extra power makes the A1 good for 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds. It commands an additional £1625 premium over an equivalent 105hp 1.6 TDI Sport.
