BUDGET 2011: AMAP rates increase

Date: 23 March 2011

The government has confirmed it will raise AMAP rates from 40p to 45p from 6 April, benefiting grey fleet drivers.

The increase is the first since 2002, and means that drivers using their own cars on business will receive 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles rather than 40p. Any mileage over 10,000 miles remains at 25p per mile.

George Osborne said current AMAP rates had "been making those who drive for work increasingly work off".
