BVRLA claims ministerial support

Date: 04 April 2011

The BVRLA claims the government shares its views on how the DVLA and Vosa can improve the way they deal with corporate customers.

Following a meeting with transport minister Mike Penning this week, BVRLA boss John Lewis said the minister was receptive to the BVRLA's suggestions as to how the government's motoring agencies could be streamlined and modernised.

"The minister made it clear that the DVLA must move quickly to drop its reliance on paperwork and start delivering efficient, electronic-based services," said Lewis.

"He also agreed with us that VOSA should carry on exploring the role industry can play in improving vehicle testing and compliance - thus enabling more targeted enforcement."

The BVRLA said it would continue to air its views through the DfT's Motorists' Forum, VOSA's Stanmore group and the DVLA's Industry Liaison Group.
