Clear delineation for service stamp

Date: 20 December 2011   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

A service stamp from a franchised dealer isn't necessary to maintain optimum used values, according to Tim Hudson of the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA).

Speaking after the BVRLA conference at a break-out session on car remarketing, he said: "There is a threshold in that certain vehicles require a franchised history with them. In my opinion, there is a line - you start with the BMW 3-series and move downwards; these cars don't. Anything from the BMW 5-series upwards does."

Hudson said that the key is setting the threshold [between dealer and independent servicing] at the right level and at least having a service history of some description.
