Ducato van set for September launch

Date: 09 May 2011

Fiat Professional's new Ducato will arrive in the brand's UK showrooms in September.

Order books for the largest van in Fiat's line-up, which now includes Euro 5 compliant engines, open this month.

The Ducato will be available in the UK from launch with a choice of three new Multijet 11 direct-injection turbodiesel powertrains and three interior trim levels.

Fiat is also offering the model with its new traction control system Traction+, which is designed to improve the vehicle's handling on surfaces with poor grip.

A telematics system including Blue & Me sat nav and the eco Drive Professional plug-in product to encourage more efficient driving is also offered as an option on the new Ducato. Fiat claims the system could deliver 15% fuel savings for fleets.

In the UK the Ducato will initially come with two 2.3-litre engines, one developing 130hp and the other 150hp. A 3.0-litre 180hp unit that Fiat claims is the best performing four-cylinder engine in its class powers the flagship model.

A 2.0-litre 115hp engine available in the rest of Europe will not be built in RHD for the UK market but Fiat is to introduce a 2.3-litre 110hp version exclusively for the UK before the end of 2011. Service intervals for the new Ducato are 30,000 miles.

The manufacturer will confirm prices closer to launch but indicated they would be similar to those of the Euro 4 Ducato, which ranges from £17,795 to £27,995.
