The start point for the best source of fleet information

Europcar plugs Vauxhall Ampera

Date: 19 July 2011

Europcar is to offer the electric Opel/Vauxhall Ampera as a rental car across Europe from the end of 2011.

The manufacturer said the deal with Europcar would facilitate the introduction of electric motoring by allowing the Ampera to reach a broader range of people.

Europcar is set to introduce the Ampera to its outlets in Germany in November, followed soon afterwards by its branches in Belgium and the Netherlands.

From the beginning of 2012 the Ampera will be rolled out across France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK.

Opel/Vauxhall's vice-president sales, marketing and aftersales, Alain Visser, said: "The fact that Europcar is going to introduce the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera in its day-to-day business is further proof that our extended range electric vehicle is completely suitable for everyday use - even as a fleet vehicle in the tough rental car business." Europcar's chief operating officer Rafael Girona said offering the Ampera would help to meet growing customer demand for low CO2, environmentally-friendly cars."
