The start point for the best source of fleet information

Date: 25 August 2011

The new Porsche 911 arrives in the UK this December, promising greater efficiencies and more power from a car that's the typical gentle evolution of 911 styling, rather than a radical new look.

The launch range is a new 3.4-litre 350hp Carrera and the 400hp 3.8 Carerra models, the former being a new engine replacing the 340hp 3.6 of the current model. Fitted with the optional PDK gearbox, the new 911 Carrera is the first Porsche sports car to get under 200g/km at 194g/km, equating to 34.4mpg. Figures for the manual version haven't yet been revealed.

As well as weight reduced by up to 45kg over its predecessor, electro-mechanical steering, auto stop/start, thermal management, energy recuperation and a new coasting function that decouples the engine when the throttle is closed all help efficiency.

Prices start at £71,449 for the Carrera, which gets satnav, leather interior, sports seats, climate control and Bi-Xenon headlights. The Carerra S is from £81,242 and adds 20-inch alloys, the Porsche Active Suspension Management systems and Porsche Torque Vectoring with rear limited slip differential as well as the extra 50hp over the Carrera.
