Fleets losing out by not renewing fuel cards

Date: 01 June 2011

Fleets across the UK are losing out by holding onto old fuelcards, which no longer offer the best deals.

The Fuelcard People says many fleets take the "easy option" of keeping long-held cards rather than taking the trouble to replace them.

Steve Clarke, general manager of the Fuelcard People, said: "It may seem easier just to keep doing the same thing rather than making a change but this easy option is costing fleets money. Many would be able to find better deals by changing fuel cards."

Clarke claims that by researching the market fleets could find a card that could save them 3p to 4p a litre.

He said the Fuelcard People offers a free instant fuel card audit comparing every major brand of discount fuel card and then arranging a replacement card if a better option is available.

Clarke says many other suppliers offer limited ranges of fuel cards, often emitting BP, the best for motorway coverage, and Total, twice independently named Fuel Card of the Year.
