Honda admits supply chain issues

Honda has admitted to experiencing consistent issues with its supply chain in recent months, which hampered its deliveries throughout the year.
Speaking at a break-out session, which focussed on fleet management and operations, immediately after the BVRLA's conference, Ollie Parsons, national leasing and SMR manager at Honda, said: "We're striving to be as easy to deal with as we possibly can but we haven't always been so. We've been slowed down by unwieldy processes."
The Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March this year, followed by the recent floods in Thailand, were blamed for the majority of the hold-ups. Parsons said that in some cases, the company had actually overestimated waiting periods for deliveries and that some customers had received their vehicles earlier than expected.
He also claimed that the Japanese manufacturer was now back on track and that the new Civic would put Honda in a good position for fleet sales: "[The] Civic represents, for the first time, a real fleet proposition for Honda. From a fleet perspective, Honda is absolutely back in the game."
