Honda cleans up Accord

Honda has cut emissions and improved fuel economy on its Accord range to boost the model's competitiveness in the fleet market.
By reducing internal frictional losses, the manufacturer has cut CO2 emissions on the 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine by 9g/km to 138g/km on the 6-speed manual saloon and by 11g/km to 159g/km on the auto. Power remains at 150hp with torque of 350nm/2000rpm. Fuel economy is recorded from 53.3mpg on the manual and 46.3mpg on the auto.
Tourer emissions on the i-DTEC manual have been cut by 10g/km to 143g/km while the 2.0-litre manual i-VTEC saloon has seen a 9g reduction to 159g/km with fuel consumption marked at 40.9mpg.
Crucially for the corporate market, the improvements to the auto diesel unit as well as the consumption cut on the manual petrol engine mean the powertrains now fit in below the 160g/km Write Down Allowance threshold.
Honda has refined the dampers across the Accord range to better suit European roads and has made design tweaks to the bumpers and headlights. Top of the range models now feature bi-xenon and active cornering lights for improved night vision.
