Jaguar XF takes on BMW 520d

Date: 06 April 2011

Jag 3/4

Jaguar will launch a version of its XF exec saloon with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, aiming the car directly at the biggest-selling BMW 5-series, the 520d.

The new 190hp diesel will arrive with the facelifted XF, pictured in final testing and due to be revealed later this month, priced from below £31,000.

Despite coming only in eight-speed auto form, the 2.2d will offer CO2 of 149g/km and economy of 52.3mpg.
