Leaseplan plugs in to Toyota hybrid technology

Date: 14 September 2011

Fleet management firm Leaseplan has struck a deal with Toyota Motor Europe to promote the use of hybrid vehicles.

Under the three-year agreement, Toyota will share with Leaseplan its expertise in alternative powertrains - including insights gained from a trial with 600 pre-production plug-in Prius hybrids, 200 of which were tested in Europe.

Leaseplan will bring to Toyota its experience of managing 1.3 million vehicles in one of the largest corporate fleets in the world, giving the carmaker the chance to raise the profile of its new Prius before its launch next year.

Leaseplan chief Vahid Daemi said: "For many years we have worked with our clients on improving both operational and environmental fleet performance. The insights we will gain through this relationship will be valuable to our sustainable mobility approach and will further support our global Greenplan service."

Didier Leroy, TME boss added: "By endorsing our technology, Leaseplan will not only help us to raise its awareness and understanding but also enable us to engage with its customer base."
