Mercedes C-class Coupe revealed

Date: 14 February 2011

Mercedes has unveiled what it describes as its first "compact, classic coupe", with the C-class Coupe replacing the CLC, which was pensioned off at the end of last year and is now being written into history as a hatchback rather than a coupe.

Arriving in the UK this June, the new model will be available with an engine line-up that's likely to mirror the saloon and estate range, including a sub-120g/km C220 CDI model.

UK cars will feature the AMG Sports Package as standard, which adds body enhancements and AMG alloy wheels, while every model will also benefit from safety kit including seven airbag, attention assist drowsiness system and parking guidance. The car will also offer internet connectivity, as Mercedes finally seeks to take on BMW's Connected Drive system. The firm said customers will be able to browse freely when the car is at a standstill, as well as sending instructions to the navigation system from a computer using Google Maps and searching for destinations in the car using Google.

"By extending the C-class portfolio, we are consciously targeting new customers," said Mercedes-Benx Cars head of sales and marketing Joachim Schmidt.
