The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the marque's top selling model, will go on sale in March this year.

Fuel consumption has improved by up to 31% in the new range and all petrol and diesel engines now wear Mercedes' green badge BlueEfficiency.

The most efficient models will be the 220 CDI and the 250 CDI with CO2 emissions starting from 125g/km.

The car also has ten new driving assistance systems ranging from its standard drowsiness detection system Attention Assist to the optional proximity control system Distronic Plus.

Since its launch in March 2007, the model has sold 98,000 units in the UK.
