New Picanto to launch at Geneva

Date: 12 January 2011

Kia will offer its new Picanto in both five- and three-door styles when it reveals the car at March's Geneva motor show.

The latest Picanto, which previously was only available with five doors, will have four all-new powertrains in 1.0- and 1.2-litre displacements, "boasting class-leading CO2 emissions" according to Kia.

The car has grown in overall length and wheelbase. Chief design officer Peter Schreyer said: "In profile, the new Picanto features significant sculpting and a very prominent rising character line. The result is a layering of light and shadow and this breaks up the height, giving the car a more sure-footed stance."

Pricing and the UK on-sale date will be announced nearer launch.
