Old Zafira to continue alongside new

Date: 19 October 2011   |   Author:

Vauxhall has confirmed the current Zafira will continue "for the foreseeable future", despite its replacement arriving in January.

The brand is attempting to move the new Zafira Tourer up a segment, as it has tried with the Meriva mini-MPV, and is targeting Ford's S-max, rather than the Grand C-max.

Pricing and final specs won't be announced until order books open in November, but Vauxhall has confirmed that the range will start from around £21,000 for the 140hp petrol ES model that's equipped with cruise control. Aircon, DAB radio and USB socket. The range will include, from launch, a 119g/km diesel model.

The current Zafira will sit between Meriva and Zafira Tourer. "We'll keep the current Zafira for the foreseeable future, several years," said a spokesman. "If you are in the market for a good-value seven seat with no frills you would look at it."
