Peugeot reveals diesel-electric 508

Date: 01 August 2011

Peugeot has revealed its diesel-electric hybrid 508 RXH, which will have emissions of 109g/km and consumption of 67.2mpg. Styled to differentiate itself from the standard 508 saloon and SW, a saloon hybrid will follow a couple of months after the RXH?launches.

On sale in spring 2012, the 2.0-litre HDI Hybrid4 drivetrain, which will first appear in Peugeot's 3008 Hybrid4 later this year, will have a maximum power of 200hp and offer a fully electric mode for town-driving.

Standard equipment will include electric front seats, head-up display, 18-inch wheels, panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted side windows and latest generation audio and satellite navigation unit.

Peugeot added that after launching the 3008 Hybrid4, it will extend the technology to other models as well as the 508.
