Public sector in 'strong position'

Date: 18 May 2011

Buying frameworks already set up for the public sector means it is in a much stronger position than its private counterparts, which often must undergo a full tender process that "can be costly and time consuming", according to Jon Lawes, managing director of Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services.

Reacting to BusinessCar's article 'Public sector ponders exiting leasing in favour of grey fleet', which debated whether some public sector organisations were thinking of exiting leasing contracts in favour of a complete grey-fleet approach, Lawes said: "With recent budget cuts and heightened sensitivity around public sector expenditure, it is vital that fleet managers understand the benefits of leasing, and how it can deliver efficiencies."
