Renault axes 10 models

Date: 19 December 2011   |   Author:

Renault has culled 10 models in an effort to improve its profitability and revamp its UK business model.

Darren Payne, Renault's fleet and light commercial vehicle boss, told BusinessCar: "We will focus on four key products and remove from the range cars that are not profitable or don't deliver 'va va voom' for our brand."

As of February 2012, Renault will remove the following vehicles from its UK line-up: Wind, Modus, Grand Modus, Kangoo passenger car, Kangoo Compact Van, Laguna hatchback, Tourer and Coupe and Espace and Grand Espace. The company said that these models represent less than 10% of the sales mix in the UK.

Renault claims that the move will make for a more sustainable future and make the company and its dealer network more profitable.

It also announced a new aftersales scheme called Renault 4+. For large fleet customers, it consists of a four-year, 100,000-mile warranty and four years' roadside assistance.

Local fleet customers will also get four years' free servicing and the scheme applies to cars, commercial vehicles and EVs.
