Saab: "business as usual" despite ongoing financial woes

Date: 05 September 2011   |   Author:

Saab GB has said it's "business as usual" in the UK, despite the ongoing search for funding by the Swedish parent company that has meant no cars coming out of its Trollhattan factory since March.

Enough right-hand drive cars were held in stock in the UK prior to production being suspended that this country has been relatively unaffected. "We had a really good stock and variety, and we've still got stock in the UK so it's business as usual," said a Saab spokeswoman.

Approval is expected this autumn for two Chinese firms to take a stake in the brand in return for the right to produce Saabs in China, and reports suggest that Saab is also in talks with European financial institutions to secure short-term funding to pay staff and potentially get the plant running again by paying suppliers.
