TomTom signs deals with manufacturers

Date: 23 September 2011

TomTom has consolidated its role as a factory-fitted satnav system provider by strengthening its involvement with three car brands covering four models.

Mazda has specified an integrated TomTom guidance system for its new CX-5 compact SUV crossover along with similar technology applied to the company's facelifted 3 range.

The CX-5 technology involves real-time traffic and weather information and re-routing plus voice activation. TomTom continues its links with Renault by supplying a Carminat system for the electric Fluence Z.E. and claims to reduce battery recharging range anxiety by relating journeys to range and the quickest routes to charging stations.

Fiat has opted for a portable and transferable device for the new Polish-built Panda, which links to the Blue & Me technology and the carmaker's eco:Drive driving style-monitoring function.
