UK fleet market prompts changes to get sub-160g/km Panamera hybrid

Date: 11 March 2011   |   Author:

Porsche has switched to low rolling-resistance tyres for its hybrid Panamera in the UK, in order to break the 160g/km capital allowance boundary.

The most efficient model in the company's history would have emitted 167g/km before the change, but the UK's tax laws were deemed important enough for UK bosses to push for a further reduction.

"We were able to work with our engineering colleagues to reach a point to make the car more attractive for our customers," said a spokesman. "Just as we've already set our stall out with the 3.6 911 Carrera, the only supercar to get into VED band K, it's only natural we would deliver the best advantage to our customers, particularly with cars such as the hybrid."

The 41.5mpg Panamera hybrid goes on sale in June for £86,227, and can run for up to 1.25 miles on the 47hp electric motor only, at speeds of up to 53mph.
