Vauxhall Insignia gets greener

Vauxhall has added a sub-120g/CO2 emission model to its Insignia line-up.
The new ecoflex diesel boasts a 10% improvement in CO2 output to 115g/km compared to the outgoing version and now falls into the lowest 13% benefit-in-kind tax band.
There is no VED on the hatchback and saloon derivatives and no VED on the estate for the first year.
Vauxhall has also introduced a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine to the Insignia range, which offers 15% BIK for the 2011/12 tax year.
The 2.0-litre CDTi ecoflex's CO2 savings have been achieved partly by the addition of start/stop technology as well as underbody aerodynamic measures and low rolling resistance tyres.
The Insignia's two Euro 5 diesel engines are available with 130hp and 160hp.
Vauxhall claims the smaller powerplant has a top speed of 129mph and goes from 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds while generating torque of 300Nm.
The 160hp engine delivers a top speed of 137mph and a 0-62mph sprint of 8.9 seconds with torque of 350Nm.
The 1.4 petrol emits 129g/km CO2 and achieves a claimed 51.4mpg.
Prices for the diesel models range from £20,345 to £29,385 while the 1.4 turbo petrol goes from £18,680 to £27,110.
