Vauxhall takes Astra Ecoflex sub 100g/km

Date: 04 July 2011

Vauxhall has lowered the CO2 emissions of its new Astra Ecoflex hatchback to under 100g/km.

The carmaker claims the use of technology such as energy recuperation and adaptive aerodynamics has enabled it to cut emissions to 99g/km and deliver combined fuel consumption of 76.3mpg without compromising the performance of the 1.7-litre diesel engine.

The Astra Ecoflex is now exempt from the London Congestion Charge, is subject to zero VED and is included in the lowest 13% BIK band and qualifies for 100% capital allowance for businesses.

The 130hp (5hp up on the current version) 1.7CDTi engine generates 300Nm of torque while achieving the 17% emissions saving.

The new Astra Ecoflex features a friction-reduced six-speed gearbox, a shift indicator to highlight the most economical point to change gear and, like the 1.3 and 2.0-litre versions, it now includes a start/stop system.
