Volkswagen Group Leasing appoints new fleet chief

Date: 06 June 2011

Volkswagen Financial Services has appointed Martin Phillips as head of fleet operations at its fleet and corporate leasing arm Volkswagen Group Leasing.

The newly created role will focus on delivering services to existing and new VGL customers as the company aims to ramp up its presence in the market.

Graham Wheeler, who heads up VFS and VGL, said Phillip's appointment represented a major step forward for VGL as it aims to become one of the top three fleet providers in the UK and grow its fleet of 46,000 vehicles.

"Martin already has experience of our multi-marque products and services and is looking to improve the service to fleets nationwide," Wheeler said.

Phillips was formerly head of operations at ING Car Lease from 2001-2008 before setting up his own online fleet consultancy business.

VGL has recently implemented the Leaselink e-procurement platform from Ebbon-Dacs.
