Volvo Driv-e auto models now available as autos

Date: 16 December 2011   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Volvo has made its larger low-CO2 Driv-e cars available with an auto gearbox.

The sub-120g/km 115hp 1.6-litre S60, V60, V70 and S80 variants all receive the firm's Powershift dual-clutch auto transmission that brings no compromise on CO2 or mpg compared with the existing manual versions.

Volvo has reduced friction between the gearbox components and modified the engine and gearbox software - in addition to the full complement of Driv-e eco features - to allow for the same levels of CO2. The models will be available to order from mid-February.

The 150hp 1.6-litre T3 petrol engine has also been tweaked. In the S60 and V60 it now returns 49mpg and 135g/km, where it previously offered 42.8mpg and 152g/km. First deliveries are expected in April.
