VW introduces Polo Match

Date: 13 July 2011

All Volkswagen models from the Polo upwards will be fitted with DAB digital radios for the 2013 model year.

Volkswagen has introduced a new budget model to its Polo supermini line-up.

The Polo Match replaces the existing SE and Moda trim levels and provides £650 of extra equipment, according to Volkswagen, but with a lower pricetag.

The 1.2-litre, 60hp manual version of the Match starts at £11,300 on-the-road, a saving of £215 compared to the SE and Moda models.

The Match features 15-inch Castille alloy wheels, front fog lights and heat insulating tinted rear windows.

Inside customers get manual air-conditioning, an RCD 310 radio/cd player, multifunction computer and MDI (Multi Device Interface) with iPod connectivity.

The Match also comes with electric windows and a comfort pack, incorporating remote central locking and electrically-adjustable exterior mirrors.

The Match is available in three or five-door guise with a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine. Aside from the entry-level 1.2-litre petrol unit a 1.4-litre 85hp version is offered. The diesel option is a 1.2-litre 75hp unit. All engines are fitted with five-speed manual transmission as standard but the 1.4 petrol can be requested with seven-speed DSG.

At £14,485, the 1.4-litre, 85hp version is the most expensive Match available.

The diesel engine boasts the lowest CO2 emissions, a claimed 102g/km.
